Interpreting, in person or remote

Interpreting is speaking in the room, or on a line, while something is happening. It is not the sworn booklet that comes afterwards. Asuman Aksoy, based in Fethiye, Muğla, takes in-person and remote interpreting when the pair, the date and the place can be confirmed. A written pair does not mean an interpreter is free for every appointment. A court that needs an interpreter appoints one. A private booking does not replace that person, and TürkiyeRota does not represent you in court.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Appointments where someone does not speak Turkish.

The notary or the land-registry officer decides whether they will proceed with an interpreter you bring. Ask them before you treat a booking as permission to sign.

01 /

Notary appointments

Powers of attorney, company acts and other notarial work often require the party to understand what they are signing. A Fethiye notary may want a sworn interpreter in the room. Confirm that with the notary, then confirm the pair and the hour with us.

02 /

Land registry (tapu)

A tapu appointment is often about a person in the room, not a written translation of a foreign deed. Written translation is the separate job when a foreign ownership paper has to sit in a Turkish file. Do not book one and expect the other.

03 /

Banks, hospitals and other meetings

A signing, an admission or a formal conversation can be interpreted in person in Fethiye, or remotely if the other office will accept a line. Clinical decisions and banking decisions stay with those institutions.

04 /

People who already ordered a written translation

The booklet does not walk into the appointment. If the notary wants both a text and a person, they are two agreements, two scopes, and sometimes two days.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

What an interpreting enquiry needs.

There is no stack of certificates to translate. There is a meeting to describe. These are the facts that decide whether the hour can be held.

  • The pair: Persian–Turkish, Dari–Turkish, Pashto–Turkish or English–Turkish, and which direction the conversation will mostly run
  • Date, start time and realistic duration
  • Place: a named notary or tapu office in Fethiye, another address you want considered, or remote
  • Whether the office has already agreed to proceed with an interpreter
  • The subject in one sentence: power of attorney, sale, bank file, medical admission, or something else
  • Who will be in the room, without identity numbers
  • Whether a written translation of a document is also required, as a separate job
  • Any paper the interpreter should see beforehand, shared later by an agreed method and not in the first message
  • A second contact if the appointment time is likely to move

Availability is confirmed before you rely on it. A requested morning is not a booking. Court hearings are outside this list: the court decides who interprets.

A THOUGHTFUL PROCESS

Hold the hour only after the office agrees.

The expensive mistake is to arrive at a notary who will not work with the interpreter you brought, or to arrive with a booklet and no interpreter when they wanted the reverse.

01—

Ask the office what it wants

Notary, tapu, bank or hospital: will they accept an interpreter, do they require someone sworn, and will they accept a remote line? Their answer is the brief.

02—

Confirm the pair and the date

Written pairs are not a standing promise that interpreting is free that week. We confirm the language and whether Asuman can actually be there or on the line.

03—

Separate any written job

If a deed, a contract or a civil record must also exist on paper, that translation is scoped on its own page. It may need a notary’s act afterwards. It is not done “during” the interpreting hour by default.

04—

Agree place and duration

Fethiye in person is the ordinary case. Another town, or a remote line, is agreed explicitly. Overrun is discussed before the meeting, not assumed.

05—

The meeting happens

The interpreter renders what is said so the party and the officer can understand each other. The officer still decides whether to complete the act. We do not sign for you and we do not advise you to sign.

06—

Afterwards, only what was agreed

A written summary is not included unless it was ordered as a translation. Memory of a meeting is not a sworn transcript.

THREE DIFFERENT MARKS

Speaking, signing, and stamping are different.

Clients ask for “a sworn interpreter and an apostille” as though they were one visit. They are not.

Interpreting

Live language in the room or on a line. Asuman is a translator sworn before a Turkish notary, and interpreting arrangements are still confirmed one appointment at a time. The oath does not put her on a court panel, and it does not make every pair available on every date.

Written sworn or notarized translation

A document that has to exist on paper. Notary approval is a later act on the translator’s signature, usually after the text exists. It is not produced by having spoken in the appointment.

Apostille

A certificate on a public document, from the governor’s side or the judicial commission for Turkish documents, or from the issuing country for foreign ones. An interpreter does not issue it. Iran and Afghanistan are outside the convention table as updated on 30 June 2026. Pakistan has been a party since 9 March 2023.

For a court hearing, the court decides who may interpret. Booking TürkiyeRota privately does not appoint you an interpreter in that hearing and is not representation. If you need a lawyer, instruct one.

WHERE IT IS USED

Rooms where interpreting is the actual job.

Use the written-translation pages when the output is a document. Use this page when the output is a meeting.

Notary

The classic Fethiye appointment: a party who does not read the act needs it rendered before they sign. Ask the notary whether they require the interpreter to be sworn, and tell us what they said.

Tapu

Land-registry appointments are about the conversation at the desk. A foreign title deed that must be filed as a document is a written translation, handled separately, and may need its own stamps before anyone attends.

Remote meetings

A bank, a hospital or a notary that accepts a line can be interpreted remotely. Test the line beforehand. A dropped call is not a completed act, and some officers refuse remote interpreting entirely.

What this is not

It is not a court appointment, not a police interview we control, and not a medical consultation. In a hospital the clinician decides. In a court the court decides. We will say no when the setting is outside what can honestly be booked.

COMMON MISTAKES

Appointments that arrive half-prepared.

The pattern is expecting one booking to cover three different jobs.

01 /

Arriving with a translation and no interpreter

If the notary wanted a person, the booklet does not speak. Check the day before, not in the waiting room.

02 /

Arriving with an interpreter and an untranslated deed

If the file needed a sworn text of a foreign document, speaking about it is not that text. Order the written job in time for the stamps it still needs.

03 /

Assuming a court will accept a private interpreter

Courts appoint. Do not plan a hearing around a private booking. We will not describe a private hour as a court appointment.

04 /

Holding a date that was only a wish

Until we confirm the pair, the place and the hour, the morning is free for someone else. A WhatsApp question is not a reservation.

PRACTICAL TIPS

A meeting that can actually proceed.

Small confirmations save a wasted morning in Fethiye.

  • Ask the notary or the tapu office, in their words, whether an interpreter is required and whether remote is refused.
  • Book the written translation, if there is one, early enough for any notary or foreign stamp that must exist before the meeting.
  • Send the subject and the duration, not a passport scan.
  • If names or figures are delicate, agree the spellings beforehand so they are not negotiated in the room.
  • Plan a margin around the notary’s clock. Their delay is not extra interpreting unless we agreed that.
  • For a hospital, tell the clinic the interpreter is not a medical professional and will not consent to treatment on your behalf.

TIMING

The date is either free or it is not.

Interpreting is a calendar, not a document queue. Once you name the pair, the place and the hour, we say whether that slot can be held. Fethiye in person and a remote line are different commitments. We do not promise same-week availability, we do not promise another city, and we do not quote a fee on this page. A written translation that must be finished before the meeting has its own window, which still does not include a notary’s or an apostille office’s queue.
