Pashto sworn translation

Pashto and Turkish are a confirmed written pair, in both directions. In Türkiye the language is called Peştuca. Someone asking for an Afganca translation is usually asking for this same pair. Dari is a different language, and a Dari page is not finished by a Pashto translation. Asuman Aksoy is sworn before a Turkish notary and is based in Fethiye, Muğla. The sworn translation is the text she signs. A notary’s approval and an apostille are separate marks. Only the office that will receive the page can say which of them it wants.

WHO THIS IS FOR

A Pashto page that has to be read in another language.

The wording on the page chooses the pair. The country on the passport does not. Not every document from Afghanistan is in Pashto.

01 /

Afghan civil and school records

A tazkira, a birth or marriage record, or a school page may be in Pashto, in Dari, or in both. If the Turkish office wants Turkish, the Pashto lines are the Pashto–Turkish pair. Say so when a Dari column sits beside them. Translating one column leaves the other unread.

02 /

Pashto documents from Pakistan

Pashto is also written in Pakistan. The written pair with Turkish is the same. The stamp is not. Pakistan has been a party to the Apostille Convention since 9 March 2023. Afghanistan does not appear on the HCCH status table as updated on 30 June 2026.

03 /

A Turkish page to be read in Pashto

The pair runs both ways. A Turkish population extract, a diploma or a court page can be prepared in Pashto when the reader needs Pashto. The direction follows that reader, not a habit of translating everything into Turkish.

04 /

An enquiry from outside Fethiye

Written work is arranged from Fethiye, Muğla, for clients elsewhere in Türkiye and abroad. This page does not publish a street address. If a notary must see the signature, the appointment can be in Fethiye or with another notary you agree.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

What a Pashto official page usually carries.

The first message describes the page. It does not attach the scan. The receiving office’s own list is shorter than this one more often than not, and that list is the one that counts.

  • A tazkira or other civil record, including the Pashto lines and any marginal note
  • Birth, marriage or divorce record, when the wording to be read is Pashto
  • Diploma, transcript, and a course description only if that office named it
  • Driving licence, when a desk has asked for a Turkish text rather than the original card
  • Criminal-record certificate, with the date it was issued
  • The residence or visa attachment that the list actually named
  • Power of attorney or court page, if it is in Pashto
  • Stamps, handwritten notes and the reverse of the page
  • The spelling of the name on the passport you will show beside the translation
  • Issuing country, Afghanistan or Pakistan, named separately from the language

Do not send a passport number, an identity number or a full scan in the first message. If a copy is needed later, the way to send it is agreed then.

A THOUGHTFUL PROCESS

The language first, then the mark.

Treating a Dari page as Pashto, or binding the Turkish text before a foreign stamp is on the original, is how the same file is paid for twice.

01—

Name the language on the page

Pashto, Dari, or both. Nationality does not choose the pair. A bilingual page needs both columns read, in the pairs those columns actually use.

02—

Name the receiving office

A migration directorate, a population office, a university, a marriage desk and a notary do not ask for the same text. If you have that office’s sentence, quote it.

03—

Prepare the sworn text

The sworn translation is the translator’s signed rendering, under the oath given before a Turkish notary. It is the language work. It is not the notary’s act and it is not an apostille.

04—

Notary, only if required

A notarized translation is the notary’s later act, usually on the translator’s signature. It is not added to every file. The notary’s fee follows that notary’s tariff and is discussed separately. It is not stated on this page.

05—

Apostille or legalisation

Where the issuing country is a party, an apostille belongs on the public document in that country, when the document qualifies. An Afghan original has no convention apostille to collect. The Turkish office then describes a legalisation route. Confirm that route before the Turkish text is bound to the page.

06—

You file the set they asked for

Acceptance is the receiving office’s decision. TürkiyeRota does not issue permits, apostilles or notarial acts, and it does not control those queues.

THREE DIFFERENT MARKS

Sworn, notarized, apostille.

They can sit in one folder and still do three different jobs. Ordering one does not produce the other two.

Sworn translation

Prepared and signed by a translator who has sworn an oath before a Turkish notary. The signature belongs to the translator. It says the text is her rendering of the page she was given. If the office asked only for that, the notary step is not opened.

Notarized translation

A later act by a notary, usually on the translator’s signature, not a second reading of the Pashto. e-İkamet lists often ask for a notarized Turkish translation. Read the line on your own screen before assuming the oath alone will do. Notary fees are not quoted here.

Apostille

A certificate, under the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, that the signature, the seal and the capacity of the signer on a public document are genuine. It does not translate the page and it does not say the translation is accurate. Türkiye has been a party since 29 September 1985. Inside Türkiye, administrative documents go through the governor or the kaymakamlık; judicial documents go to the judicial commission. The fee is the one that office, or the e-Apostille screen, shows on the day.

Afghanistan does not appear on the HCCH status table as updated on 30 June 2026. Pakistan has been a party since 9 March 2023. A document from a non-party cannot be apostilled under the convention. The Turkish office then describes a legalisation route. Read the row for the country that issued your document on the day you file, because accessions change.

WHERE IT IS USED

The desk chooses the page.

The same Pashto record can be asked for in different shapes. Match the marks to the desk, not to the document’s nickname.

Residence and visa papers

An e-İkamet list or a consulate often wants a foreign civil record as a notarized Turkish translation. An apostille, when the issuing country is a party, belongs on the original. The directorate or the consulate decides the application. A translated page is not a permit and not a visa.

Diplomas and transcripts

University admission and YÖK equivalence publish different lists. Many ask for a sworn or notarized translation of the diploma and the transcript. If a Pashto diploma carries a Dari explanation, both languages are named. Translate after that year’s list names the version.

Civil status and a driving licence

A population directorate or a marriage office reads civil status from the original and from the Turkish text it asked for. A licence is translated when a desk has asked. The translation does not replace the licence and does not, by itself, authorise you to drive.

A Pakistani public document

The language can be Pashto and the stamp can still follow Pakistan’s branch of the convention, since 9 March 2023, when the page is a public document that qualifies. The issuing authority and the Turkish office say whether it qualifies. The translator does not issue the apostille.

COMMON MISTAKES

How a Pashto file gets translated twice.

The wording can be careful and the file can still come back, if the language or the stamp was the wrong one.

01 /

Calling a Dari page Afganca and sending it as Pashto

Afganca, in Turkish search, usually means Pashto. It is not a third confirmed pair, and it is not a licence to skip Dari. The words on the page choose.

02 /

Treating the three marks as one product

A sworn translation, a notarized translation and an apostille are not a bundle. Name the mark the office used. If it has not said, say that, and we start from the missing sentence rather than from a guess.

03 /

Translating before the foreign stamp

If the original still needs an apostille or a legalisation, binding the Turkish text first can leave that stamp outside the translation. The office then asks for the work again.

04 /

Sending the scan in the first message

A passport number, an identity number or a full tazkira in the first WhatsApp message is more than a quotation needs. Describe the page. Share a copy only by a method agreed afterwards.

PRACTICAL TIPS

A cleaner first message.

A short note that names the language and the office is more useful than a photograph of a whole folder.

  • Say Pashto or Dari before you say the nationality. A bilingual page needs both named.
  • Quote the office if you can: sworn, notarized Turkish, apostille, or a line from an e-İkamet note.
  • Count annexes and stamped pages. A one-page certificate with four attachments is not a one-page job.
  • If the passport spelling and the civil record already differ, say so before anyone signs.
  • Keep the original available. Some notaries and some receiving offices want to see it, not only a scan.
  • For a Fethiye notary appointment, say the day you can attend. The translation and the notary’s hour are different calendars.

TIMING

A window, not a fixed day.

A short, readable Pashto page is a different plan from a diploma plus a transcript, or from a file that still needs a notary appointment. After you describe the type, the length, the direction and whether a notary step is already known, we agree a workable window for the translation itself. That window is a plan, not a promise. It does not include the notary’s hours in Fethiye, another notary’s calendar, or the queue for an apostille or a legalisation. No fee and no number of days is stated on this page. A date you hope for is not a completion guarantee.
